Registering puts your name and your trade on the country’s own list of unorganised workers, and gives you a number that does not expire. It is free, and it takes minutes.

What you get

  • A Universal Account Number (UAN) and an e-Shram card, valid for life. It does not need renewing.
  • Accident cover under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana — ₹2 lakh for accidental death or permanent disability, ₹1 lakh for partial disability.
  • Your trade on record. When a scheme or a relief payment is announced for workers in your trade, this register is where the names are taken from.

Who it is for

  • Any unorganised worker aged 16 to 59 — daily-wage labour, construction, domestic work, driving, street vending, and every trade listed on this platform.
  • Not for members of EPFO or ESIC, and not for income-tax payers.

What to take with you

  • Aadhaar card
  • The mobile number linked to your Aadhaar — the OTP goes there and there is no way around it
  • A bank account number and IFSC

How to check and apply

  1. 1Register free at eshram.gov.in, or at any Common Service Centre (CSC) if the form is easier done with somebody sitting beside you.
  2. 2If your mobile number is not linked to your Aadhaar, that is the first job — the registration cannot be completed without it. Any Aadhaar centre will do it.
  3. 3Helpline 14434 for anything that goes wrong.

What it is not

Registering is not a payment. The card by itself does not put money in your hand — it puts you on the list that payments and schemes are drawn from.

Upper Bazaar is not a government office. We explain these schemes and we do not enrol anybody, file anything on your behalf, or take any fee. The amounts and the rules are the government’s and can change — the official page is the authority, not this one.
